Rockaway officials brace for town to become hotel haven
Newark Star-Ledger, August 25

ROCKAWAY, N.J. – The Hilton Garden Inn, which is being built on the edge of Rockaway Townsquare mall, is the first of three hotels to be developed along Route 80. The 162-room Hilton, which is scheduled for completion in December, will most likely have nightly rates of $100. Meanwhile, the town planning board approved a 109-room Holiday Inn Express and a 100-room Wingate Inn on Green Pond Road. The proposed hotels will join the only major hotel in town, a Howard Johnson, which is slated for expansion.
