Presidio Trust Seeks Developers for $70Mln Rehab

The Presidio Trust is soliciting developers to rehabilitate the Public Health Service Hospital and surrounding district through a $70 million project in San Francisco. The organization has issued a request for qualifications for a plan to renovate and convert the 300,000-square-foot main hospital building and 17 ancillary buildings totaling about 100,000 square feet, into upwards of 300 housing units. Certain non-historic sections may be razed and equivalent square footage can be constructed elsewhere within the 42-acre Public Health Service Hospital district, according to the trust's request for bids. The trust will issue an up to 90-year ground lease for the properties. There will be a pre-submittal meeting on May 6 with responses due on June 9. More than 47 parties had requested copies of the trust's request for bids, including Hines, Webcor, Turner Construction, Forest City, Page & Turnbull, TMG Partners, Patri Merker Architects Inc., Gordon H. Chong & Partners and Putnam Waterfront Partners LLC.
