Frias buys Las Vegas apartments for $15.5Mln

LAS VEGAS - The Frias Trust has purchased the Conjeo Villas apartments for $15.5 million. The complex is at 5070 West Hacienda. Peter Moore and Michael Shaffner of NAI Horizon represented the seller.


Capital & Counties sells Tukwila, Wash., shopping center

TUKWILA, Wash. - Capital & Counties U.S.A. has sold the Parkway Square Shopping Center, an 85,000-square-foot specialty retail center located in this Seattle suburb. The center is anchored by Toys R Us, Magnolia Hi-Fi and Sterling Jewelers. The buyer is Everett Plaza Shopping Center. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.


Englewood, Colo., gets inventive with real estate

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - The city, which sits just south of Denver, has come up with a simple strategy for dealing with real-estate problems: turn them into train stations. This formula worked on Cinderella City, a failed mall on a 55-acre site in the middle of the city, which acquired the property and redeveloped it into a huge mixed-use complex centered on a new station on the region's expanding light-rail system. Last year, the city even moved the mayor's office, the City Council chambers, courts and other offices into the old Foley's department store on the site.
