Developers to raze old Gates Rubber plant

DENVER – Cherokee Investments plans to knock down most of the former Gates Rubber Factory along Broadway to build a $750 million village of offices, stores and apartments. The proposed redevelopment would convert the defunct factory on 50 acres south of downtown into a transit hub. The preliminary plans call for 7.5 million square feet of construction, including 2 million sf of office space and 4,000 residential units. The development proposal is still preliminary, and the company has not formally asked the city for permission to act on its construction plans.

Owners seek to rezone part of Apex Industrial Park in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS – Industrial Properties Development, developers of the Apex industrial park north of Las Vegas, recently submitted conceptual plans to Clark County officials that call for rezoning a portion of the industrial park for residential and commercial development. Tentatively named North Hills, the proposed master-planned community would comprise about 3,000 acres of the 21,000-acre Apex site, which would also include light industrial uses such as manufacturing and warehousing as well as commercial zones.
