Work to Start Soon on Santa Monica, Calif., Mixed-Use Project

Work is set to begin soon on a $350 million residential and retail development in Santa Monica, Calif. The Village of Santa Monica is being built by Related Cos. on a 3-acre site along Ocean Avenue. It will consist of 158 condominium units as well as 160 affordable apartments. The ground floor will hold shops and restaurants.

The city of Santa Monica owns the development site, which it purchased from Rand Corp. for $53 million in 2000.
