Brixmor On Track to Sell $750Mln of Properties This Year

Brixmor Property Group is nearly complete with its plan to sell $750 million of non-core shopping centers in 2018. It initially had targeted selling $600 million of assets. It’s selling properties that are in markets in which it has little presence and those that underperform relative to its overall portfolio.

Brixmor Property Group has nearly completed its plan to sell $750 million of non-core shopping centers this year, surpassing its earlier target of selling $600 million of properties.

So far, the New York REIT has sold 21 properties for $322.9 million. That includes 10 assets for $139.3 million in the second quarter whose prices resulted in an average capitalization rate of about 7.5 percent. The company has an additional $350 million of assets under contract.

For all of last year, the company sold 32 properties for $407.5 million.

Brixmor is selling underperforming centers as well as those in markets where it doesn’t have much of a presence. Since the beginning of...
